Our journey began with Norman Uman — the Main Crab Man — a seafood visionary with a deep passion for serving fresh, high-quality crabs and seafood. In 1976, Norman founded Blue Claw Crab House & Eatery in South Jersey, just 35 minutes from Philadelphia. What started as a small local fish market quickly grew into a cherished crab house and seafood restaurant known for its authenticity, flavor, and heart.
Norman built Blue Claw on fairness and integrity — treating customers, employees, and suppliers with respect. Through hard work and dedication, he transformed Blue Claw into the beloved destination it is today. More than just a restaurant, he created a legacy — one that lives on through the dedicated team now operating Blue Claw as an employee-run business.
