Harry's Oyster Bar |
Primary Cuisine: Oyster Bar & Seafood
Back in 1897, Harry (call me "Dock") Dougherty opened Dock's Oyster House in Atlantic City and quickly became well known for his simply prepared and reasonably priced oyster stews, fried fish and raw bar. Adhering to these principles while keeping pace with the changing times, Dock's has continued in operation for over a century and remains one of the most popular and highly acclaimed restaurants in Atlantic City.Harry’s vision of a fine neighborhood restaurant has been upheld by three subsequent generations who shared his commitment to quality and service. That commitment has established Dock’s as a local institution and the Dougherty’s as Atlantic City’s premier restaurant family, and again in 2006 when Frank Dougherty opened the Knife & Fork Inn, another historic establishment in Atlantic City.
Now, Harry's great-grandson Frank and his wife Maureen bring you their newest creation, Harry's Oyster Bar & Seafood. Harry's recreates the old time oyster bar and seafood house of Harry Dougherty's day, featuring high quality, fresh seafood at reasonable prices. We have also added some modern touches, including the numerous flat screens so you will never miss your favorite team.
Harry’s Oyster Bar officially opened on June 27, 2011 before 500 guests and media members. Harry’s features an old-time oyster bar with mahogany millwork, maritime-inspired lighting, hardwood floors and a nostalgic tin ceiling. The focal point is the massive, multi-tiered shellfish display and 20 foot marble slab raw bar. The indoor dining area features a wall of windows that span floor to ceiling with views into the historic Dennis Hotel courtyard which adjoins Atlantic City’s famed boardwalk. Patio seating is strategically situated in this expansive courtyard to optimize guest comfort and magnificent views. There are 40 seats at the inside bar and an additional 40 seats at cocktail tables with 9 flat screen TVs in the bar. Additionally the dining area has 100 seats. There are 26 seats and 4 flat screen TVs at the outside bar and 65 dining seats on the outside patio with live music featured right in the Courtyard on weekends.
Menus are printed daily to take advantage of the freshest catches available in the market. In addition to the raw bar featuring a dozen different oyster varieties, house specialties include a classic Lobster Roll and Harry's Clam Bake.
